The Psychology of Reading: A Working Memory Approach

The number one indicator of learning ability is Working Memory.

10% of children in every mainstream class have deficits in their Working Memory. This impacts their learning specifically in Reading and Mathematics. RIP IT UP Reading© is a researched reading intervention program that has been designed to focus particularly on those children who have deficits in the way they process, file and retrieve information.

RIP IT UP Reading© looks at reading intervention from a psychological perspective. It has been designed with Working Memory theory at its core. RIP IT UP Reading© is not a 'band-aid effect' reading program. It uses three principles of teaching children to read (REHEARSAL, CHUNKING, PACE) in an environment where distraction is minimised and basics are reinforced.

Phonological awareness and decoding ability are key features of RIP IT UP Reading©.
